Gpets
A free-forever pet health platform that gives Australian owners one home base for their pet's entire life — records, reminders, vet connections, microchip registration, and more.
The Challenge
Pet owners in Australia manage their animals' health across a fragmented mix of paper records, vet portals, notes apps, and memory. Vaccination certificates live in kitchen drawers. Medication schedules get tracked in reminders apps that don't know what the medication is. Microchip registrations sit in third-party databases that can go offline or disappear entirely.
When a pet owner switches vets, moves interstate, goes on holiday, or hands care to a sitter, they start from scratch. There's no portable record, no shared source of truth, and no way for a new vet or caregiver to quickly understand the animal's history, medications, dietary needs, or emergency contacts.
The brief was to build a consumer pet health app that was genuinely free for the essentials — no paywalls on the core value — while creating a connected ecosystem that worked for both pet owners and vet clinics.
The Solution
We built Gpets — a pet health platform that gives every animal a permanent, portable profile. Owners create a profile in under five minutes: name, breed, age, photo, vaccination history, medications, and linked vet clinic. From there, the platform becomes the single source of truth for that pet's entire life.
Smart reminders handle the care calendar automatically — vaccinations, flea treatments, worming, annual check-ups, prescription refills. Vets can push records directly to an owner's profile, eliminating phone tag and paper handouts. When a pet switches clinics, the history travels with them.
Microchip registration is built in with redundant backup and lost pet alerts — notifying nearby Gpets users if an animal goes missing. Care Cards let owners share a secure, read-only snapshot of their pet's dietary needs, medications, emergency contacts, and behavioural notes with sitters, groomers, and boarding facilities.
The platform is designed to grow: insurance comparison, telehealth booking, wearable integration, and expense tracking are part of the connected ecosystem. The core is free forever — the business model is built around services, not access.
The Outcome
Gpets launched to Australian pet owners with strong early adoption — trusted by owners across the country and actively recommended by connected vet clinics. The free-forever positioning removed the biggest barrier to signup: pet owners don't pay to care for their pets better.
The Care Card feature has become a standout for multi-pet households and anyone who regularly uses pet sitters or groomers. The microchip backup system addresses a genuine anxiety that owners had about registry instability — Mel R., an early user, noted her previous registry had "just disappeared" and the redundancy gave her immediate peace of mind.
Gpets is now the home base for thousands of pets across Australia — dogs, cats, and everything in between. As vet clinic connections grow and additional service verticals launch, the platform is positioned as the infrastructure layer for how Australians manage their pets' lives.
